Save the date in 2013

Sunday, May 26, 2013 ~ tentative date for the next Pedal to the Meadow.

“Newlywed category” results

When we discovered we had FOUR newly married couples in Pedal to the Meadow this year…we made up a “Newlywed Category” (totally not USAC-sanctioned of course.) Congrats to Lou & Katy Ortiz for winning the “Newlywed Category” with a combined time of 2:44:12. Troy & Randi (Arinaga) Kiepper took second at a combined 3:27:24.

Amie & Matthew

Michael & Amie (Holland) Smith of Austin, TX, (honeymooning on Kauai!) with 3:45:51 were third, and Lisabeth & Steve Layne had 4:46:12.

Keep ‘Em Comin’

42 cyclists have signed up so far for P2M ’12, a great many from off island. So let’s have Kauaians sign up to double the wheel count this coming week.  Women who sign up online this weekend will receive a fitted scoopneck tee instead of the regular men’s crew (unless you email otherwise). The stuffed roosters are on order…See you all soon!

Mike Fujita

For those of you who have not heard,
we lost a fine cyclist, friend, and race-planning mentor this week — Mike Fujita.
Our condolences to Sharon and his family.

Kalaheo Cafe steps up

Just got word that Kalaheo Cafe will help with post-race food this year! Thanks John & Roy!

Congrats & Mahalo for Riding P2M’11!

On behalf of Tradewind Cycling Team and race sponsors (Kauai Cycle, The Bike Shop, Kalaheo Cafe), thank you for participating in the second annual (we now can say annual!) Pedal to the Meadow. Results will be posted on this site soon. We know we can keep improving the event, plus welcome volunteers, so please send suggestions to p2mKauai@gmail.com   Mahalo and…see you next year?

Are you Ready?

When online registration for Pedal to the Meadow 2011 closed this evening, 87 people had signed up! See you at packet pick-up and Friday 3-5 or Saturday 1-3 at Kauai Cycle in Kapaa. On Sunday, you must check in at the Kekaha Neighborhood Center 6:30 – 7:15 am. New this year: a water station and an actual podium…so please stay for the awards ceremony and a bite to eat.

One month to go!

Registration is at 40 and counting! Our KPD permit is in hand and shirts are on order. A great group of volunteers has stepped up — still some “job openings”available. Email p2mkauai@gmail.com to volunteer or if you need travel tips.
